Tap into your body’s ancient birthing wisdom

Virtual and in-person doula, lactation, and postpartum services

Welcome to Ancient Wisdom Birth Services

Your birth experience — and the days following your child’s birth — are defining moments in your life. I’d be honored to help you make these experiences some of the most positive and powerful of your life.

As a certified doula and lactation specialist, it’s my life’s work to help birthing women feel nurtured, honored, and powerful.

Why work with a doula and lactation specialist?

When you’re in labor, you don’t want to be directing the show. You want to be taken care of. Let me help you find what soothes you and makes you feel empowered, comfortable, and in control.

Once baby comes, I’m here to help you understand how amazing your mother’s milk is for healing, feeding, and connecting with your baby.

With Ancient Wisdom Birth Services, we’ll create a safe space to live out the vision you have for your birth and new life with your baby.

Our doula services and lactation support are for women who are looking to define their birth experience on their own terms, and want to feel respected and heard.

I’ve helped hundreds of women bring new life into the world — I’d love to help you, too!

The intersection of science + ancient wisdom

Only about 32% of women report having a positive childbirth experience — and I’m positive that number decreases drastically for women of color and pregnant people from marginalized groups (although, there’s no research to back me up — shocking). However, studies show that women and families who are educated about the childbirth experience are more likely to report positive outcomes and believe they receive better treatment in a maternity ward setting.

Here at Ancient Wisdom Birth Services, I want to make sure that you can craft your birth vision and have that reflected in your care plan. I also believe that, by educating women and families on the childbirth experience and explaining the medical terminology surrounding birth, we can balance a natural birth with our traditional healthcare expectations.

It all comes down to autonomy and empowerment:
I want to help you advocate for the birth experience that you want.

Lactation support

Most hospitals and OB-GYNs don’t educate their expecting patients on the importance or process of breastfeeding.

With my lactation and breastfeeding support, you’ll learn proper techniques, how to troubleshoot problems, and how to keep you and baby healthy.

Postpartum support

Studies show that women who have help after delivery have fewer instances of PPD and a faster recovery.

Get the support you deserve from a trained postpartum doula who can take care of kids, help with meals, and even watch the baby while you sleep.

About Nyasia

As a certified doula, lactation educator, and certified Indigenous Breastfeeding Consultant, I provide educational and emotional support birth and postpartum services to mothers and families in the metro Detroit area (and to anyone online).

As a mother of three myself, a doula with nearly a decade of experience, and as a certified obstetrical surgical technician, I trust the innate wisdom every mother carries to birth their baby. It is an honor to help women create positive birth experiences and I’d love to see how I can help you.

“Talking to Nyasia gave me confidence and a sense of comfort and relief. I felt as though I had a sister that helped me every step of the way. I have never had such a positive pregnancy, or birthing experience.”

I had four previous pregnancies where there was constant worry, misinformation, misguidance and lack of education from my ob/gyn, nurse, and peers. I met Nyasia thinking I would basically learn different calming techniques for labor — boy was I wrong. I learned about myself, my baby and my body. The amount of information Nyasia gave me gave me confidence and insured me that I was choosing the best birth plan for my baby and myself. I would definitely refer Nyasia  to whomever I know with child. Her spirit is positive, powerful, enlightening, and gentle yet firm. She is very passionate about what she does and it shows.
